TOGETHER FOR RESC7UE
A VISIT TO REMEMBER – CLOUD7 & PET SHOP BOYZ VISIT THE SÜDERSTRASSE ANIMAL SHELTER
Some places are not easily forgotten.
Our visit to the Hamburg animal shelter was exactly one of those moments.
For several years now, as part of our RESC7UE mission, we at CLOUD7 have been supporting animal welfare organisations recommended to us by our long-standing retail partners.
Today, we would like to introduce you to the Süderstraße animal shelter in Hamburg, which was recommended to us by our long-term partner, Pet Shop Boyz—more specifically by their Managing Director, Suse Beyer. Pet Shop Boyz has supported the shelter for many years and is inspired by their work. We have therefore decided to also support the commitment of the shelter and Pet Shop Boyz with an additional donation from CLOUD7.
Animal shelters like the one in Hamburg's Süderstraße and many others are dependent on support every single day. Donations are needed for the medical care of the animals, for daily food – and for something that is never truly finished: the renovation of the buildings. As soon as one construction site is completed, the next one begins elsewhere. The need simply never ends.
The situation regarding dogs is particularly striking. Due to the strict requirements for the keeping and rehoming of "listed breeds" in the federal state of Hamburg and their specific, practically unfulfillable keeping and permit requirements, these dogs are unfortunately represented here in particularly large numbers and are especially difficult to rehome. While other cities and districts specify fewer restrictions for rehoming, shelters like the one in Hamburg face significantly greater challenges – with a noticeable impact on space, time and resources.

At the same time, the shelter is a sanctuary for far more than just dogs. Cats, birds, rodents, wild animals and exotics from poor conditions find a safe temporary home here. Every animal brings its own story – and needs individual care, patience and attention.
What touched us most: Despite all these tasks, the shelter is incredibly lucky to have so many volunteers who contribute with great commitment. Many go for regular walks with the dogs, giving them time, attention and closeness – so many, in fact, that there is now a waiting list.
Yet volunteering includes so much more: supporters also help with cleaning work, socialise cats – for example, by reading to them – and get involved in the so-called "Spatzenkaffee", which is run entirely by volunteers. Helping hands are also regularly needed for gardening. In this area specifically, the shelter continues to welcome new volunteers.
A strong sign of how much commitment and heart come together here.
A true heatbreaker

For us, this visit was a powerful reminder of why our CLOUD7 RESC7UE mission exists:
To take responsibility and to help with a donation where help is urgently needed – and to support the initiatives that achieve great things quietly and tirelessly every day.
Our special thanks go to everyone who makes this possible
