THE CLOUD7 DOG COAT

FOR EVERY WEATHER. WARMING AND WATER REPELLANT, IN MANY FITS.

WARMING DOG COAT

For the colder seasons, with a soft fleece lining.

A dog coat is more than just a fashion accessory for dogs, but an important protection for our four-legged friends. It offers considerable health benefits by preventing illness and providing relief for dogs with pre-existing illness such as joint stiffness etc.. Especially in cold and rainy climates, a high-quality dog coat is indispensable. Whether large or small, short-haired or long-haired - every dog can benefit from a suitable dog coat.

Dogs with short coats, shelter dogs from warm regions and dogs with curly coats often do not have a warm undercoat. In the rain and cold, they cool down quickly as they get soaked to the skin.

In urban areas, dogs are often kept on a lead. This means longer waiting times at traffic lights or when shopping. As a result, the dog has fewer opportunities to warm up sufficiently and regulate its body temperature. It starts to shiver and ultimately freeze. Even active dogs benefit from warm waterproof dog coats, as they quickly lose a lot of body heat after intensive play and thus become more susceptible to injuries and illnesses.

A dog coat is particularly important for older or sick dogs. Due to osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia or other joint problems, they move more slowly and less. Wetness and cold intensify the sensation of pain and can lead to further tension in the muscles or injuries to tendons and ligaments. A well-fitting dog coat keeps seniors or immunosuppressed dogs warm and dry

A waterproof dog coat is indispensable, especially when walking in the rain or snow. It not only protects the dog's coat from getting soaked, but also from getting cold. CLOUD7 dog coats are highly water-resistant or if not waterproof thanks to taped seams and functional materials.

Dog coats with fleece, such as our Brooklyn dog coat, are perfect for cold winter days. A soft fleece keeps the dog nice and warm and offers maximum comfort. Especially dogs with a short coat or those that get cold easily benefit from a fleece dog coat as soon as the temperature drops. They are also ideal for transitional weather as well as for long walks in the snow.

Small dogs are often more sensitive to the cold due to their smaller body mass. A dog coat with belly protection offers these dogs additional warmth and protection. A dog coat with belly protection encloses the dog's entire body, providing a feeling of security and warmth. This can be particularly beneficial for dogs with low body fat cover, small dogs or older dogs.

Large dogs need dog coats that are robust and hard-wearing to suit their active lifestyle. Models made of hard-wearing material and with a good fit are ideal for large dogs such as Labrador Retrievers or German Shepherds. They not only offer protection from the cold and wet, but also durability.

When dogs should wear a dog jacket depends on several factors, including breed, coat length, the dog's individual tolerance to the cold and weather conditions. Small dogs with short coats or older dogs tend to get cold more quickly and may benefit from a dog jacket, especially if it is a waterproof dog jacket.

In this respect, it is important to observe the dog's behaviour and how it reacts to different weather conditions. If your dog is shivering, lifting its paws or retreating, this may indicate that it is cold and could benefit from a dog jacket.

As every dog has an individual physique, it is important to choose the right size for dog jackets and other dog clothing to ensure optimum protection and comfort. Regardless of whether it is dog clothing for small dogs or large dogs, you should make sure that the clothing offers sufficient freedom of movement and is not too tight.

Choosing the size of the dog coat at CLOUD7 is very simple: there are a total of three factors that need to be taken into account. Use our size chart to determine the right size and make sure that the dog jacket is neither too tight nor too loose on the chest.

Make sure you choose a dog jacket that meets the requirements of your dog and the prevailing weather conditions, and pay attention to features such as waterproofing and thermal insulation.

1. the weight of the dog: How many kilograms does the dog weigh?

2. back length: What is the actual length of the dog's back, measured from the base of the collar to the base of the tail?

3. the chest circumference: How large is the chest circumference, measured at the widest point?

Ideally, a tape measure should be used to measure this. If these three factors are given, it is very easy to determine the right dog coat for your dog.

  • Freedom of movement: The dog should be able to move freely without being restricted. Make sure that the coat is not too tight and does not hinder the dog's natural movement.
  • Length: The dog coat should reach from the neck to the base of the tail. The dog should still be able to move its tail freely.
  • Neck circumference: The neck circumference of the coat should be large enough to fit over the dog's neck without being too tight.
  • Chest circumference: The dog coat should be neither too tight nor too loose around the chest. A good rule of thumb is about a good finger of space between the coat and the dog's belly.
  • Fit: The dog coat should not wrinkle unnecessarily on the dog's back and/or slip constantly when walking or running. It should also not slip over the dog's ears or eyes, as this would be uncomfortable for the dog.

For a better demonstration, here is a video guide on how to measure your dog for a coat.

For many dogs, a dog coat for a harness with harness openings is ideal. A dog coat with an integrated harness hole allows the dog to wear its harness under the coat. This ensures greater comfort as the harness does not rub against the coat or cause pressure points. The dog coats from CLOUD7 offer a zip opening for various harnesses. The dog coat with harness hole allows the lead to be attached directly to the harness, ensuring a secure connection. This means that the harness remains accessible and the dog can still be walked comfortably on the lead.

Large dogs also need dog coats that are robust and hardwearing to suit their active lifestyle. Many large dog breeds such as Dalmatians, Weimaraners, Magyar Vizsla and many more have very little undercoat and can therefore benefit from a warm dog coat. CLOUD7 offers all dog breeds, whether small dogs or large, several models of functional and hard-wearing materials. The CLOUD7 dog coats have the perfect fit and are ideal for large dogs such as Labrador Retrievers, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Weimaraners or German Shepherds. They not only offer protection from the cold and wet, but also extremely high quality that will last a dog's lifetime.

As the number of Dachshunds, French Bulldogs and Greyhounds joining the family is constantly increasing, CLOUD7 now also offers dog coats in special cuts that are explicitly tailored to the particular body shapes of these dog breeds. Dachshunds, French Bulldogs and Greyhounds have special needs due to their specific characteristics and anatomy, which is why a suitable dog coat can be of great benefit to them.

French Bulldogs differ from other dog breeds in that they have a muscular, broad chest, a strong neck and a shorter back. They are more susceptible to the cold due to their short coat. A dog coat can provide them with extra insulation and protect them from the elements. CLOUD7 offers a selection of dog coats specifically tailored to the needs of French Bulldogs, such as the London Raincoat for French Bulldogs, the Dublin Raincoat for Frenchies and the Brooklyn Dog Coat for French Bulldogs for winter.

Greyhounds and related breeds such as whippets, galgos and podencos have less natural thermal insulation due to their slim build and low body fat. A dog coat can help protect them from the cold, especially during cold weather conditions. CLOUD7 offers the Brooklyn winter coat especially for greyhounds to provide them with optimal protection and warmth.

With these specially tailored dog coats, Dachshunds, French Bulldogs and Greyhounds can be optimally protected from the elements while allowing them to move freely and look stylish at the same time.
